This interview details VOLTZ Vertical Farming, an indoor farming company based in France. The interview is with Solène VOLTZ, International Sales Manager at VOLTZ Vertical Farming.
In 2020, GRAINES VOLTZ, a French independent distributor of flower and vegetable seeds for professionals, acquired the genetics of HILD Samen with a complete herbs’ assortment.
This evolution combined with the spirit of GRAINES VOLTZ to take advantage of opportunities and meet market needs, resulted in the creation of a brand and a range dedicated to Vertical Farming in 2021: VOLTZ Vertical Farming.
To achieve this, we have tested our varieties under real production conditions to select the best ones on criteria such as speed, plant behaviour, size and taste. Our initial range, which includes chives, parsley, coriander and dill, evolves and expands in line with growers' expectations and market needs, always with the same priority of supplying high-quality seeds.
Our main challenge is to deal with the current market difficulties, which is heavily impacted by the energy crisis and the geopolitical situation. We continue to believe in the future of urban agriculture because of the numerous advantages it offers. To maintain our presence and strength in this market, it is essential to listen to the needs and be aware of developments in order to propose innovations and solutions.
VOLTZ Vertical Farming is a division of the family business GRAINES VOLTZ. We therefore benefit from the expertise and logistics of a leading company established for 39 years in seeds supply for professionals.
Our aim is to offer to growers a complete range of products. We listen to the market and continue to research new varieties, particularly for short-cycle production. We are currently focusing on herbs, leafy greens and microgreens but will also be adding additional species expected by our customers such as edible and cosmetic flowers.
Seed quality is at the heart of our concerns:
• Varieties are agronomically selected for their development in Vertical Farms.
• We select seed lots with the best germination rate.
• Seeds are checked against seedborn diseases.
• We check and clean our seeds at the highest possible level.
We market our varieties worldwide and work with growers of all sizes. We have a dedicated sales team, available to respond to requests from our customers and leads (select appropriate varieties, send samples or quotations). Our e-commerce site, www.voltz-vertical-farming.com, also enables us to distribute widely.
We believe in this type of production, which provides an ideal solution in certain regions of the world (tough climate, isolated areas, limited resources such as water). It's important for Vertical Farming to be integrated into the agri-food system and distribution networks. It's still confidential and little known to the general public, but it's evolving little by little. We believe that the future lies in the multiplication of smaller-scale farms not just in the large structures located near major metropolitan areas.
We recommend that you visit our website, where you'll find all the information you need about our products and expertise: www.voltz-vertical-farming.com.
Description of the varieties, cycles, number of seeds per kilo, taste…: all important information about each variety is available on the website. It is possible to order easily from all continents (with a few exceptions), 24 hours a day. The e-shop is able to operate international deliveries, respecting the specific legislations inherent to the different delivery destinations. It also offers the possibility to contact our sales team, request quotes or seed samples and track the status of your order online.
