What is the origin story of Viscon?

Established by Jan Visser, the great grandfather of the current generation owners, our company has been involved in the horticultural sector since 1927. We started out in flax industry; the production of soft fibre used to produce linen.

After the demise of the flax business in 1967, the next Visser generation bought and sold equipment for horticultural sector. As the horticultural sector rapidly grew diversified, or created a demand for custom-made machinery. The Visser family took this opportunity and started to develop and manufacture their own machinery. The experience and success of their designs led to the expansion into Agro& food-related sectors, such as ‘Fresh Produce’, ’Poultry’, and ‘Food logistics’.

The division that focuses on the horticultural sector is called Viscon Plant Technology (VPT).  This is the division of the company that provides automation options and software for the indoor farm sector.
