This interview details SecondBloom Auctions, a company based in the United States. The interview is with Chris Lange, Manager of Strategic Partnerships at SecondBloom Auctions.
SecondBloom Auctions originated in 2016, inspired by an experience at an auction of FarmedHere, a major vertical farming company that had gone out of business. I ended up winning a bid for a significant amount of growing infrastructure. The process, though initially daunting due to the logistical challenge of handling 700 feet of 25-foot tall heavy-duty cantilever racking, turned out to be rewarding. This successful endeavor led to the repurposing the equipment for an OK Kosher-certified indoor vertical farm in North Carolina, planting the seed for SecondBloom Auctions.
Looking ahead, logistical challenges remain a primary concern for SecondBloom Auctions. Complex transactions involving equipment that requires refurbishment, and movement between various locations like sellers, rebuilders, testing facilities, and buyers, demand meticulous coordination. We are committed to overcoming these challenges and aim to provide unparalleled customer service, even in demanding situations.
SecondBloom stands out due to our ability to handle multiple auction types – reserve, Dutch style, reverse, buy it now – powered by a technology-driven approach. Our platform streamlines asset pickups and viewings and features automated bidding. We cater to a growing customer base in CEA, offer premium membership benefits like early access to viewings, and provide dedicated technical support.
While specific metrics like growing area size or production quantity might vary, a significant indicator of our success is our customer base, which has reached over 135 customers in CEA. Our team size and technological infrastructure also reflect our growth and capability to handle diverse auction types and logistical complexities.
For 2024, our goal is ambitious: to triple our total revenue, moving from six-figure to seven-figure earnings. This growth will be driven by expanding our customer base, enhancing our technological offerings, and maintaining our reputation for excellent customer service and efficient auction handling.
