This interview details Oreon, an innovative developer and manufacturer of high-tech water-cooled top & multi-layer LED grow lights company based in the Netherlands. The interview is with Peter Barentsen, International Sales Manager of Oreon.
Oreon is a Dutch innovative developer and producer of high-tech LED grow lights. More than 12 years ago, Oreon started researching the application of LED lighting in greenhouse horticulture. The studies were carried out with, among others, Wageningen University and Research (WUR) and various (innovative) growers. During these years many tests have been implemented. The first commercial project with Oreon's water-cooled LED fixtures was installed in 2009. Now LED fixtures are used worldwide in greenhouse horticulture above various types of crops.
Oreon stands for innovation, quality, and flexibility. Our mission is to offer growers tailor-made LED lighting solutions to further optimize their qualitative and quantitative growth.
Oreon is confident in the future and believes in the application of LED lighting, both in greenhouses and indoor facilities.
Oreon exclusively develops and assembles LED lighting and wants to be among the best in the world. The fixtures are water-cooled to belong to the top.
The unique water-cooled concept ensures that the LEDs and electronic parts are continuously cooled, which is the best guarantee for trouble-free growth for many years. The water cooling also makes it possible to produce high lighting levels with high efficiency and offers the possibility to reuse the heat gained. Together with the specially designed lens, this results in a lamp that is efficient enough to evenly illuminate a very large area.
In addition to the continuous development of the market potential and the worldwide increasing demand for assimilation lighting, Oreon works closely with renowned partners from all over the world to find the perfect solutions.
A lot of cannabis growers use our fixtures. Also, the biggest cress, tomato, and lettuce grower in The Netherlands uses our fixture for nearly 15 years. We do not have a HPS fixture; we only believe in LED. This is the future!
To contribute to ensuring that fresh and healthy food is accessible to everyone.
Growers can and do continue to grow in a sustainable manner.
Continue to innovate and improve; stay ahead of colleagues and coin competitors.
Contribute to the development of an economically viable vertical farm.
All the fixtures of Oreon are water-cooled. This contributes to;
A higher output
More sustainability
Longer lifespan and therefore longer warranty period
All compositions of spectra are possible. Every fixture is tailor-made
We are the company that has been involved in LED lighting for greenhouse horticulture for the longest time (15 years!)
None of our first customers switched to another supplier. Customer satisfaction with Oreon is extremely high. Our market share is still growing. We are still asked by clients to develop lamps for specific purposes (for example vertical farming).
Have and maintain patience.
Continue to collaborate with growers and installers. Establish and maintain focus.
Don't let growers and competitors fool you. It takes two or three or four to tango!
Happy to get in contact with everybody who wants to know more about efficient LED lighting and Oreon.
