This interview details Greeen Tech, an indoor farming company based in Czech Republic. The interview is with Dmitrij Lipovskij, Founder and CEO of Greeen Tech.
What is the origin story of GreeenTech?
I started with GreeenTech with my co-founder Milan Soucek. We started our mission back in March 2020 when due to Covid 19 all lock downs and restrictions started. In the beginning we had only ideas and no experience or skills in agriculture. However from the beginning we strongly knew that we wanted to be company which serves unique technology – developing and manufacturing technologies for hydroponic grow and not only providing lettuce or basil.
In July 2020 after researches and some tests we hire some cultivation experts and decided to establish small lab where we started working on harmonization of cultivation process with industrial automation.
Personally I couldn´t imagine that we will be able to develop real solution for commercial use. But in after one year, in 2021 we launch both our technologies Container hydroponic farm – GreeenBox and solution for indoor use Urbanio.
What are some of the biggest challenges facing GreeenTech in the future?
The biggest challenge and in same way big advantage which I feel is our base location. We are from Prague, Czech Republic. I think we are pioneers not only in Central Europe but when I see our competitors we are in same way global pioneer who offer very strong and proved solution. Well, the problem which I see is business development outside of the Czech Republic, our market is not that big, so we will be obligated to look into other locations. In the other hand for us is pretty simple to build local awareness about our company, so that´s why we already made pilot projects in Germany or UAE.
What is unique about GreeenTech compared to competitors?
We have our own in-house Tech and Grow departments. Our both exclusive technologies HW/SW were developed inside in the company and manufacturing is also running under one roof. More over we have our own service team which provides after sales trainings and control our farms in the field and also remotely via our remote control SCADA system.
Further our farms are modular so we can be fitted in the spot exactly according to customer needs. We have 8x dimensions of indoor farms Urbanio. GreeenBox has same dimensions as 40´HC container, so it simplifies cargo or road logistics.
How do you measure the impact of your company so far? (Revenue, Employees, Customer Quantity, Production Volume) etc?
Honestly, for me as a person and Dad of my amazing son is our non-profit installations. I am very thankful that we have partners which support us with these activities. In our short history we built farm at CVUT (Czech Technical University) and this summer we will 3 more non-profit projects for NZM (National Agro Museum in Prague), CZU (Czech Agro University) and Montessori school in Ostrava.
As a CEO I am super happy that our customers are global companies as AHOLD, Siemens, Veolia, Radisson Blu Hotels, etc. We install the most high end restaurants in Prague. I love our customer diversity, I believe that we can attract everyone who has some space (office, restaurant, hotel, retail).
What have you learned that you wish you knew when you joined or started the company?
Plants are living organisms 😊 Me and my co-founder Milan we both have technical background. In the beginning we thought that merge tech & grow wouldn´t be any struggle. But honestly it was 😊
Our R&D is daily working on the new improvements in SW, crops, etc. Because our major goal is to serve the best Innovation – Experience – Impact
