This interview details Adapt AgTech, an indoor farming company based in the United States. The interview is with Jonathan Murray, Co-Founder and CEO of Adapt.
What is the origin story of Adapt?
After launching the mushroom based wellness company, Forage Hyperfoods with my wife, I was introduced to my co-founder of Adapt, Rob Imbault.
After a few too many pancake breakfasts and conversations about changing the world, we landed on advancing access to sustainable food through gourmet mushrooms.
Can you tell us more about the features and production in your mushroom farming containers?
We do not aim to sell containers, we are cultivators and sell our mushrooms. We have many features that we constantly improve, adapt and refine as we manufacture them inhouse. Our strongest focus is that we are hyper local producers and aim to deliver to customers the same day or within 24 hours of harvest, directly.
What are some of the biggest challenges facing Adapt in the future?
Fresh produce has a significant portion of the operation focused on logistics. Finding unique, climate friendly and affordable ways to ensure our products get from A to B and remain high quality will always be an area for constant improvement.
What is unique about Adapt compared to competitors?
I believe rising tides raise all ships and that anyone in the market currently is contributing to the solution, so competitor is too strong of a word for our industry peers. Everyone growing food is doing great work and we all may approach things differently, and thats okay.
How do you measure the impact of your company so far? (Revenue, Employees, Customer Quantity, Production Volume) etc?
We are a Servings driven organization. What I mean by that is, we strive to produce as many servings as possible, and strive for 0% spoilage. By that, these servings are being sold to restaurants and retailers, but if we have any overgrowth, we always donate to community kitchens and food banks.
What have you learned that you wish you knew when you joined or started the company?
How gratifying it is to produce food, had I known, I would have started sooner!
How can people connect with you or learn more about Adapt?
Visit our website, there are multiple forms depending on your interest.
